Profile

Dr. Gaurav Soni is the founding partner of Soni And Soni, a boutique Intellectual Property and corporate law practice with offices in Ahmedabad and Jodhpur. With nearly two decades of experience, he advises businesses across the full IP lifecycle, from patentability opinions and Trademark prosecution to enforcement, licensing, and cross-border portfolio management across 200+ jurisdictions.

Before founding the firm in 2007, Gaurav trained at three of India's most respected practices, Amarchand & Mangaldas (New Delhi), Crawford Bayley & Co. (Mumbai), and Y.J. Trivedi & Co. (Ahmedabad), gaining deep exposure to high-stakes litigation, IP prosecution, and international commercial law.

He holds a Doctorate (Ph.D.), a Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) and a Master of Law (LL.M.), and engages with inventors, engineers, and R&D teams on technical merits, not just legal procedure. He is a registered Trade Mark Agent and Patent Attorney.

Gaurav is a visiting faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, and Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), where he lectures on IP strategy, commercialisation, and innovation law. He has presented papers at national seminars on Copyright enforcement, traditional knowledge protection, and Patent awareness, and has appeared as a legal expert on Doordarshan Girnar's weekly programme “Kayda Kanoon” and in The Economic Times.

He maintains active international networks through INTA, APAA, and AIPPI, and is recognised for what clients call “rocket-speed” responsiveness, first responses within minutes, draft filings within 24 hours, and a relentless commitment to getting results when others say it cannot be done.
