Privacy Policy

How we handle personal data collected through this website, under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023.

Who we are

Soni And Soni, Advocates & Attorneys is the data fiduciary in respect of personal data collected through this website. We practise from Ahmedabad, Gujarat and Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

For any question about this policy or about your personal data, write to us at support@soniandsoni.legal.

What we collect

When you submit the book-meeting form, we collect your name, email address, telephone number, the service you select, your preferred time to talk, and any description of your matter that you choose to provide.

When you subscribe to the Journal, we collect your email address only.

We also record the source that brought you to the site, a marketing campaign parameter, a referring website, or 'direct' where neither is present, so that we understand which of our efforts reach people. This is not linked to any identifier beyond the enquiry itself.

If analytics are enabled, our analytics provider collects standard usage data such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, device type and browser. This is configured to avoid collecting information that would identify you personally.

Why we use it, and on what basis

We use the information you submit to respond to your enquiry, to carry out conflict checks before accepting an engagement, and, if you become a client, to provide legal services to you.

We process this data on the basis of the consent you give when you submit the form. Where an engagement follows, we also process data as necessary to perform our retainer and to meet our professional and statutory obligations.

We use newsletter subscriber emails solely to send the Journal digest. Every message contains an unsubscribe link.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not result in an engagement are retained for up to two years, so we can identify prior contact and conflicts, and are then deleted.

Client files are retained for the period required by our professional obligations and applicable limitation periods, ordinarily not less than seven years from the conclusion of the matter.

Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, our website host, our email provider, and the spreadsheet service in which enquiries are recorded, each bound to process data only on our instructions.

Where a matter requires it, and with your knowledge, we share information with associate counsel, agents in foreign jurisdictions, and the relevant Registry or court.

We disclose data where required by law, by a court, or by a regulatory authority.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to obtain confirmation of, and access to, the personal data we hold about you; to have inaccurate or misleading data corrected and incomplete data completed; to have your data erased where we no longer need it and no legal obligation requires us to keep it; to nominate another person to exercise these rights in the event of your death or incapacity; and to grieve to us about how we have handled your data.

You may withdraw consent at any time, and it will be as easy to withdraw as it was to give. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal, and may mean we cannot continue to act for you.

To exercise any of these rights, write to support@soniandsoni.legal. We will respond within the period prescribed by the Act. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Security

We apply reasonable security safeguards to prevent personal data breaches, including transport encryption on this website, access controls on the systems that hold enquiry data, and restriction of access to those within the firm who need it.

No transmission over the internet is entirely secure. Please do not send confidential or privileged information through the contact form before an engagement is confirmed in writing.

Changes

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The version published on this page is the current one, and material changes will be noted here.
